Our minds have a 'bad' habit of thinking negatively, and these thoughts tend to stay in our minds for a long time unless we do something about it. People who tend to think negatively try very hard to force these thoughts out of their minds. These methods of forcing thought out are very likely to backfire.

Have ever tried to not think of something and end up thinking of it? Is normal. Well, do not worry several techniques can help you relive these thoughts.

Changing your body language.

This is one tactic to stop negative thoughts and prevent them from happening. If you find yourself often slouching with a closed stance or bad posture. You have to stop it, they lead to negative thoughts.

Try to sit with your back straight and chest out, and also smile often. This will surely help with your negative thoughts.

Talk to someone

Many of us have several emotional issues that we have to let out from time to time. If you are in such a position, talking about those issues will help you tremendously and ultimately will lead you to the root cause of these problems. The attribute of these problems being solved is that you will get a different perspective on those situations.

Breath deeply and focus aka Meditation

When negative thoughts come around, it is time to show them who the boss is. By just simply finding a comfortable position, close your eyes and take deep breaths. While you do this focus on your breathing and push the negative thoughts out with every breath you take.

By doing this routine for 5 minutes daily you will be able to see improvements in your stress and anxiety levels.

Try a different approach on your perspective

Promise me that from today onwards you will look at your difficulties as challenges that you come out victorious.

When you think you face challenges instead of difficulties, then you will surely change your perspective for the positive, and you will feel a difference.

This difference is attributed to the spin in positive perspective that you give to your situation.

Be creative

Well let your mind fly, there are no limits when it comes to creativity. So whatever makes you happy in form of creativity will do when dealing with negative thoughts.

My relief from stress and anxiety is 'painting by numbers' or colouring books. This helps me focus on the task at hand and also allows my creativity to take flight.

If you do not have a favourite creative activity you can try the ones I am doing. Guaranteed to work every time.

Take a walk in nature

People who are surrounded by negative people or a negative environment will ultimately result in negative thoughts. Take a break from that environment a go for a walk in places with positive vibes and if you have a dog that you can take along, it will be perfect.

Try forest trails, parks or even museums and art galleries. For me, the waterfalls do the trick.

Make a list of things that you are grateful for.

So many of us have the tendency of focusing only on the bad thing that happens to us, which leads to negative toughs and depression. Change this negative thinking pattern and write a list of things you are grateful for.

You do not have to write only big events in your life, try to look for the small ones that give you a burst of joy even for a few seconds.

Bonus tip: Relieve your stress by exercising.

This is the number one technique if you want to relife stress and anxiety, exercising.

When you perform physical activities, it helps you release tension in your body. While you exercise your body will produce endorphins, these are the 'Feel good' hormones.

This method is a guarantee to help you think positively and as a bonus, you get in shape ;).
